Self Defense Woodstock GA

Just finished an eight hour day of training with the executive protection group based out of New York. In the course we went through is called protection response tactics. PRT is specially designed for the protection specialist and how they operate in their field. I am currently traveling around the US and teaching this course for EPI.

The following is a breakdown of the class;
The Executive Protection Institute (EPI) is developing a new system of innovative and proven response measures designed to fulfill the unique requirements of the Personal Protection Specialist (PPS). EPI's Protection Response Tactics (PRT) includes techniques from a variety of striking and grappling arts that will be beneficial to both the skilled operator and the novice. PRT offers appropriate solutions to all levels of risk.
All countermeasures employed by the PPS should reduce the risk to those they protect.

The PPS seeks to reduce the risk to the client by avoiding confrontation. If faced with confrontation, the PPS would prefer to evacuate the client. Sometimes, avoidance does not work, sometimes evacuation is not the answer, and sometimes the appropriate countermeasure is the reasonable application of physical force. PRT provides the tools necessary for that reasoned response.
With the increased popularity of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), PPSs face an opponent who has increased awareness and access to effective training. Despite proper preparations to avoid conflict, the PPS may be faced with a threat that requires immediate engagement. PRT provides the tools and the training to reduce the risk by engaging the threat.

The Protectors ultimate goal is to reduce the client's risk by using the appropriate response. PRT provides the tools and the training to give the PPS additional appropriate countermeasures to help keep their clients safe.
Lead instructor for the course is Alan Baker of the Atlanta Martial Arts Center (AMAC). Alan has 13 black belts in various disciplines awarded by acknowledged masters in their art. Alan has years of training military, law enforcement and private sector personnel. Assisting Alan is Stacy Roberts, a former law enforcement officer who is now a skilled private sector operator. Both Alan and Stacy are PPS certified and instructors with EPI. Other AMAC and EPI Instructors will also be assisting Alan and Stacy.

woodstock GA self defense class

This week I am in New York teaching a large group of bodyguards for the executive protection Institute. We have designed programs for EPI that are specially designed for the bodyguard industry. It is not uncommon to see groups in this industry higher martial artist to teach a given martial art because there are happens to be popular at the moment. This does not make a lot of sense since the study of a given part Mond not fit the environment of the professional bodyguard.

What allows us to create programs for this industry is our vast background in some of the most proven martial arts and self-defense methods available today. The opportunity to train in this industry has also directly affected our curriculums and teaching methods here at the Atlanta martial arts center. Since we primarily focus on self-defense and not sport based martial arts, opportunities to train in various industries like law enforcement, military, and bodyguard work directly affect how we teach civilians at our school.

Self Defense Woodstock GA

One of the programs that we are developing here at the Atlanta martial arts center is a program that combines the handgun and empty hand defensive tactics skills. It is not uncommon to see handgun classes taught a martial art schools but it is uncommon to see a class that will combine the use of a pistol combined with empty hand skills. This is a very unique concept and it is something that you will not see offered into many martial art schools. And since we focus primarily on the adult student here at a AMAC we believe it is important to offer programs like this. If you consider the level of violence in the world today especially in the Atlanta area it only makes sense to develop your skill level with the handgun as well as your defensive tactics self-defense skills.
